The former Niger national football team player Issoufou Idrissa was officially sworn in as a sports ambassador in the Pan-African Parliament (PAP). The new Ambassador to occupy the inaugural role took up his assignment on 10 November, the same day legislative newcomers were sworn in as Members of Parliament. He joins South African mining tycoon, Ms. Bridgette Motsepe, in the ranks of other influential Africans working with the continental parliament.
The new position of sports ambassador in the continental parliament comes as the AU organ takes off a hardcore outreach campaign winged on the promise to become an effective organization that positively impacts the lives of Africans and engages stakeholders and all people of African descent.
Wnn got hold of the letter of appointment signed by the President and Speaker of the PAP Sen. Chief Fortune Charumbira which read, “In view of your experience and influence in the football industry, the Pan African Parliament looks forward to working with you in contributing to sports development on the continent as well as enhancing the institution’s visibility through sport.”
